Lessons of life are always learnt in schools. Having always been with the parents, the first pangs of homesickness and separation are felt when kids go to pre-schools or kindergarten. It is the collective responsibility of parents and teachers to create an environment conducive for children to embark on their journey of life. They should be made to enjoy the change and adjust with new friends. There are several things parents can do before sending kids to school.

Inculcate self reliance and eating habits.

Take them for out regularly so that they get used to the world outside their homes.

Allow children to play with kids of similar age in the neighborhood.

Teach them to make friends and share. Every child will have a distinct character but all of them will be homesick. All of them have been the most important person in their respective homes but are equals in the class.
1 Inculcate a sense of daily routine in your child. Let your child know what his will be like. Tell him what time school begins and ends each day.
2 Encourage your child to discuss his / her feelings — both the excitement and concerns — about starting school.
3 Visit the school along with your child to see his new classroom and meet his teacher before school officially opens.
4 Highlight the positive aspects of going to school. It will be fun and they can make friends.
5 Reassure your child that if any problems arise at school, the teacher will be there to help resolve them.
6 Try and make your child meet a classmate before the start of school so she already have a friend when school starts.
